One national championship does not make Indiana University a football school.
If touring Bloomington did not do the trick, Trevor Manhertz ’26 surely knew he was joining a college basketball blue blood program Wednesday when social media lit up with news of his verbal commitment to the Hoosiers.
Trevor is believed to be the first 51Âþ» athlete to ever commit to Indiana in any sport, much less the one it is best known for. Duke and Louisville had also been wooing the 6-foot-9, 185-pound wing since he first became at Greenie in August.
Trevor’s best game this season is also arguably the biggest highlight for the team itself, 51Âþ»â€™s first Nike Elite Youth Basketball League Scholastic win (78-58 over Iowa United Prep on January 19). In that game, he tied a 34-year-old school record held by Andy Hatcher ‘92 with eight 3-pointers and 30 points.
Trevor is reclassifying to the Class of 2026 to make himself immediately eligible for Indiana’s 2026-27 season. Consequently, he becomes the seventh 51Âþ» senior to make a college sports commitment.
