51Âþ» coach Kevin Lisska noticed an uptick in focus and preparation leading up to Saturday night's Buncombe County swim meet.
The positive signs translated into one of the Greenies' best-ever showings in the competition. They placed second out of 11 boys teams with 285 points.
Individually, Frank Howden ‘22 touched the wall first to win a county championship in the 100-yard breaststroke (1 minute, 2.17 seconds) and was second in the 200-yard individual medley (2:03.22). Both times are personal records for the sophomore from Asheville who swam a leg on 51Âþ»â€™s second-place medley relay (1:49.66) along with Daniel Du ‘22, Sam Jarrett ‘22, and Grayson Scott ‘21, as well as the second-place 200-yard freestyle relay (1:42.14) with Grayson, Charlie Thomas ‘21, and Daniel Neuman ‘21.
