A predominately local roster allowed 51Âþ» JV basketball to play Christmas Break games for the first time in many years. The catch being is that the team had to take on varsity competition.
The Greenies (7-0) were unphased, completing a perfect three-game run through Asheville High School’s holiday tournament Tuesday by defeating Australia’s Showtime Bendingo, 68-42. Afterwards, the Showtime players and coaches gifted 51Âþ» with t-shirts.
Alumnus Drew Redmond ’21 served as head coach for the Christmas Break games, which included Saturday’s 85-69 win over the host Cougars and Monday’s 71-49 win over Franklin Academy.
51Âþ»â€™s next game is January 6 at home against Carolina Day.
