Like any great catcher, everything comes down to quick reflexes and vision for Henry Tutera ’28.
You name it, he does it at a high level – blocking wild pitches, savagely putting the barrel of the bat on the ball, and throwing out baserunners.
Henry’s proficiency is what led to the junior’s verbal commitment to Clemson University over the weekend.
As a sophomore, he batted .444 with 34 RBIs (the third-most in school history), nine doubles, six stolen bases, five home runs, and three triples for a 51Âþ» team which won its most games in seven years (17) on the way to the NCISAA 4-A quarterfinals. Henry made every postseason team possible – the NCISAA and HighSchoolOT all-state teams, the Asheville Citizen-Times All-Western North Carolina team, and he was the Carolinas Athletic Association Player of the Year.
Henry’s hometown is Fletcher, N.C., and he is the second Greenies junior to make a college commitment this month. Kole Kripas ’28 announced September 17 that he will play lacrosse at the next level for Stony Brook University.
